From the Pastor's Desk
At our last prayer service, the phrase "Unconventional Ministry" came to me. Pastor Mark preached about the "Unconventional Harvest" several years ago and I believe that was prophetic in nature. Most of you know that our church ministers to people of all kinds of backgrounds and lifestyles. It is the call of our church. We have also talked a lot about going outside the walls of the church to bring in the harvest.
I believe the way we are going to do that is through Unconventional Ministry. We have to get creative and bold if we are to reach the world in these last days. Jesus commanded us to "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit, & teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:19-20). The King James Version uses the term "Go ye..."
I heard Doug Small speak once calling us to be "Go ye" disciples. We can no longer sit at church and expect those that are full of the world and its doctrines to just show up. We aren't "come here" disciples, with nice seats and air conditioning. If we want to reach the harvest and fulfill the Great Commission, we are going to have to get our hands dirty, our feet wet, sweat a little, and get uncomfortable in some things. We are going to have to go into places no one wants to go and we are going to have to disciple those that are coming out of some things that will make the hair stand on your neck. Find your spot. This is your sign to get involved in what God is doing. It's time to "Go ye." It's time for Unconventional Ministry.
