We remember the Miracle on the Hudson. On Jan. 15, 2009, US Airways flight 1549 was disabled by striking a flock of Canadian geese. Pilot Sullenberger brought the plane down safely on the Hudson River off Midtown Manhattan. Passengers scrambled to get off the sinking plane, struggling to stay alive and fighting hypothermia, hoping for rescue.
An onlooker on the bridge saw people going under. Without hesitation, he tore off his coat and dove into the frigid waters. He rescued one woman and her daughter, then swam back again and yet again. He saved the lives of 5 people. All 155 people aboard survived.
A young woman watching the live newscast in her apartment turned to her two children and said, "That looks like something your father would do." Three hours later she found out that it was their father.
Wouldn't you like for people to know you as the kind of person who will stand up and say, "I am the one to do something about this. This is the place, and now is the time"? Why do we cower back in the heated moments of life? Why do we retreat? Why do we shy away from challenges? It's time to stand up! You are the one! This is the place! Now is the time!
