Love is spelled T-I-M-E.
Men need to spend time with God. You show your esteem of a person by how much time you give to him or her. What does that say about God's place in our hearts?
We need to spend time with our wives. We are designed to live in active partnership with someone we love. Scripture says that husbands and wives are "heirs together of the grace of life" (1 Pet. 3:7). We only receive everything God has for us in life as a team.
We need to spend time with our kids. Amusement parks sometimes have bumper cars. Unfortunately, that is too often a picture of family life. Our schedules are so busy every night of the week that we only bump into each other occasionally, instead of being committed to consistent, meaningful relationships.
And men need time to invest in each other. It may be around a ministry team or fellowship group at church. But in light of what I am seeing happen in our church, I am more convinced than ever that men need it. This Christian thing is meant to be lived out in community.
So take time! Intentionally build into your life the things that matter most.
